In the blissful struggle to implement the religion of Islam with the understanding of the righteous muslims who preceded me beginning with the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah send the prayers of peace and blessings upon him and upon his family), his Companions (may Allah be pleased with all of them), and the generations of righteous upright muslims who came after them (may Allah have mercy on all of them). They implemented the Quran and the Sunnah in its entirety; paid no heed to the mere opinions of men; ignored the blaming of those who blame; repelled falsehood with truth and innovations with the Sunnah and were strangers even among the muslim people.

As-Salaam Alayikum Akhi,
I find your blog an inspiration as a struggling Muslim. It’s hard for me to not be distracted sometimes, but your blog and others tend to straighten me out. I hope you don’t mind, but I included a link to this website on my new website. I’m working on building it up, so it’s a little thin, a work in progress.
Ma Salaama!

wa alaykum as-salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
This is from Allah akhi. My intention behind the blog has two aspects (1) to reproduce the words of the salaf (beginning with the Prophet {sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam} all the way down to those who stick to the Prophetic beliefs and methodology down to today) and (2) to give my experience as someone who has seen, heard and been taught a lot of different and competing ideas about the religion of Islam and after careful study, have come to what is the correct understanding of how to live and apply Islam – free from the cultural additions and superstitions.
One way to know that you are doing great is to feel yourself struggling. Not struggle in the religion, just struggle against the distractions of this world (as you said) and struggle against our lower-selves. If you are struggling with these things then this means by default that you understand there is good and bad, right and wrong, correct and incorrect. Just stick to the understanding of the religion from the best amongst the Scholars of the Sunnah and those who love the Salaf and you won’t go wrong akhi; especially don’t listen to what anyone would say to get you to turn away from that.
ma’as-salaama akhi
